First
floor
Climbing the stairs we enter the room for holidays "el taulat", for family
reunions and celebrations. The prestige and social position of the family are measured
in different ways: the luxurious table service the furniture etc.
We also discover the structural use of the house: the divisions of wood, the furniture
…… Have you ever thought why the windows are small with little panes?

From that same room
we can reach the bedrooms, the intimacy of these was compromised because of the wooden
divisions. In the bedrooms we can guess at the intimate life of their occupants.
We can catch a glimpse of a whole world of beliefs and rituals that were a part of
daily life. The protection against the storms with blessed water, the veneration
of Saint Rita, the enchantments.

At the same time, the austerity that we find is
a reflection of that way of life, that contrasts it with our own. The bedroom also
related to birth and death, therefore with the life cycle of the domestics.
Opening the kitchen door, the first thing that we see is the "ferradal".
This old sink of heavy slate through which they threw the small quantities of waste
water left over from the domestic work.
The other object of attention is the fire place. If we went close we could still
hear the voices of the family, who during the evening were sitting round the fire
talking…..Listen to them with attention …..
Fortunately, the chimney still has all it’s parts; the ash tray, where kept the ash
which was used to make washing soap; " la fallera", where they put their
lamps so that the women had sufficient light to make use of time for spinning, sewing….and
chatting , these were the principal activities that took place around the fire during
the long winter evenings.
