Second floor
As we go upstairs to
the floor above, the perspective of our visit changes. The new rooms that we can
visit haven't got the same atmosphere. Contrary to what we have seen up to the present,
they tell us about the different subjects related to domestic life.
The first thing that we see is the model of Casa Gassia, with all the elements that
make up the whole: the stable, the courtyard used for separating the corn, the house
etc. the house was not just the place where the family lived, but was also the place
where numerous important social and economic interests were found. The land, the
properties, the animals, the genealogy ... The whole, made up the house. |

Life, at the beginning
of the century, was organised with a strong division of work according to sex. We
realise that it is our principal conclusion after visiting the two rooms on the second
floor. From the differing tools used for the different jobs of each sex, we can understand
better the deep sexual division that existed in the Pallars community at the beginning
of the century.
We
would like it, if all that you have seen up until now makes you want to visit the
Àneu Valleys and visit not only Casa Gassia, but also the other centres of
the "Ecomuseu" and the whole region. We are sure you will not be disappointed.
We are waiting for you!! |
